A native of Illinois, Pierson now resides at his "Dancing Horse Ranch" in Aubrey, Texas with his wife, Nancy, who also serves as his manager and travel agent. Reflecting on Al Pierson's rapid rise to national prominence on the big band circuit, the reality of his presence as a major personality is relatively recent. Among his early accomplishments, Al was guest conductor of the Cleveland Symphony Orchestra and had his own TV show in Bloomington, Illinois, co-hosting with John Coleman of TV "weather" fame. In 1977, Al and his Big Band U. S. A. were acclaimed "America's Number One Dance Band" by a national survey of ballroom dancers. An accomplished musician, composer arranger, vocalist, and band leader, Pierson was also the National Youth Music Director for the American Institute of Cooperation for 14 years. Since picking up the Lombardo baton, Pierson has gained even greater acclaim throughout the continental U. S. and Canada for his recreation of the sound of Guy's original band. |
